Wetherby v Mirfield

The game was played on a beautiful sunny morning in Wetherby

Triples

The game was disrupted in the triples by 3 men in their 50s/60s who started inflating their paddle boards next to the terrains with a pneumatic pumps, as if this wasn't off putting enough 1 of them allowed his dog to roam free on the terrain totally disrupting play.
When asked to control his dog he refused and replied with a tirade of abuse using more profanities than most of us use in a year.
When challenged by the players he apologised but then went on ranting about his right to let his dog roam free followed by more expletives
Totally ruining the match.

Shirley,Jim and Mark started with a 4 at the 1st end only to be pulled back to 4-6 after 3 end
With the game tied at 9-9 Wetherby scored a 4 to win the game 9-13

Diane, Lucy and Harry also lost their rhythm after the dog incident losing 8-13

So we were 0-2 at the break

Doubles

The doubles started with the alarm of the paddle boarders
van ringing in our ears just as we started

Mark and Shirley never gained any momentum and were beaten 3-13

Diane and Harry both played some excellent petanque to win their game 13-10 with Diane excellent pointing and Harry shooting to his usual high standards

Lucy and Jim were locked in a tight tussle with the scores locked at 11--11, some superb pointing from Lucy and fabulous shooting from Jim gave them a 13-11 victory

So, Mirfield lost the match 2-3
