Mirfield v Heckmondwike

The match was played on a warm Monday morning, with friendly banter between both teams.

We knew we were in for a tough match with table topping Heckmondwike and so it proved.

Triples

Diana, Harry and Ken started well and raced to a 6 -2 lead, with some great pointing from Diane and Ken and accurate shooting from Harry before Heckmondwike stormed back to win the game 8-13

Jim, Tony and Mark had the sort of game that dreams are made of.
Every point or shot landed were we wanted it to hit
Jim pointed exceptionally well and Tony Morton was shooting for fun
Resulting in a 13-2 victory

So it was 1 game all at the break

Doubles

Tony and Mark must have upset the petanque gods because all our luck deserted us and when we were in a good position Clive from Heckmondwike would shoot and take the points resulting in a 2-13 loss

Ken and Jim also struggled to get into the game and ended up losing 2-13

Diane and Harry put up a brave resistance but also lost 5-13

So Heckmondwike won the match

Credit where credit's due Heckmondwike were a better team on the day

Next Monday we play Wetherby at home in the West Yorkshire cup and on Tuesday we play Wetherby away in the league
