Wetherby v Mirfield

The score was again 3 games to 2, but unfortunately this time the match ended in defeat for MIrfield.

The triples games were first up and Mark, Shirley and Jim came up trumps. The contest was equal at 3 -3 when the Mirfield triple scored five at one end so 8-3. This gave them a confidence boost to take the game 13 - 6.

Tony H, Carol S and Ian started their game well and went into a 8 -2 lead. Unfortunately the wheels came off and the Wetherby triple came through to win 13 - 8.

Therefore the match score was one each and all to play for in the pairs.

Jim and Ian were defeated by 13 - 6 to put Wetherby 2 - 1 ahead.

Mark and Shirley again came up trumps by playing no risk pétanque and came out winners 13 - 4.
The attention was now on the final match with Tony and Carol playing for Mirfield. The match was close throughout with the lead changing on a regular basis. However the Wetherby pair took the contest by 13 -10.

Mark and Shirley were stars of the day with Shirley setting the tactics for the pair.

Mark has now a season record of playing six games and winning six. Well played Mark.
