Month End Melee

Month End Melee March 2023

28 members turned out on a beautiful spring afternoon for the March Month End Melee among them were two recent recruits who were taking part in their first Month End Melee.

Numbers drawn the first round got under way but it wasn't long before a number of players were sat down again after a 13 - 3 game. Bit of sunbathing on the cards !

The majority of games lasted a good bit longer with scores of 13 - 12 or 13 - 11 or 13 - 10. One such game was between current Month End Melee leader Dave Karl partnered with Nev putting in a rare appearance ! They were playing Robin and relative newcomer Ann H. The game was poised at 11 - 8 to Dave and Nev when Robin and Ann played a blinding last end to take 5 points and the game. Well done.

At the end of round 1 Sue M and Tony H were in the lead on +10.

On to round 2 and another scattering of 13 - 12 and 13 - 11 scores. Sue M did a lot better than that winning 13 - 2 and giving her a +21 cumulative score. Sue Burnett was the nearest to her with +18 and Tony H not far off with +16.

Last round and again lots of close games except Tony's which ended 13 - 1 catapulting him into the lead with +28

To sum up

In 3rd place with 3 wins and +15 was Kevin who receives 5 points
In 2nd place with 3 wins and +17 was Steve who receives 6 points
In 1st place with 3 wins and +28 points was Tony who scores maximum 7 points.

Congratulations Tony

Two other players scored three wins but were just outside the placings. Commiserations to Jim and Shirley both on +14.
