Fish and chip Friday Petanque at Mirfield Petanque Club.

To celebrate the partial relaxation of Covid Rules, some of the members of Mirfield Pétanque Club decided to hold an outdoor Fish n Chips Friday Event.

More than 20 members attended and we were blessed with sunny and warm weather, albeit slightly breezy.

The afternoon started with two games of Petanque and whilst the second game was being played, our Chairman, Tony Haynes set off to a local fish and chip shop to collect 20 pre-ordered portions of fish and chips and cartons of mushy peas and curry sauce.

Our members gathered around on folding seats on the grass, whilst maintaining social distancing.

It was evident by the cessation of chatter that the fish and chips were going down a treat. They always taste better al fresco.

What a great way to spend a Friday afternoon.
Jackie Longbottom acted as cashier and remarkably raised enough cash to end up with £10 to be donated into our club funds. Jackie is a brilliant fundraiser.
We intend to repeat this Fish and Chip Friday Pétanque event whenever the weather forecast is favourable.

Thanks to everyone who attended and especially to Tony and Jackie.
