    Whilst the majority of members were enjoying the sun in the Scottish Borders a contingent of MPC turned out to play on Monday afternoon. Determined not to have another nightmare afternoon Margaret Hill gritted her teeth, polished her boules and buckled down to play what she hoped would be a better set of games than last week.

    She did just that and won ALL THREE games.

    Well done M and thanks for taking it brilliantly the previous week. What a sport.

    SOME of the leading players in the sport of petanque are heading to a small corner of West Yorkshire this weekend. Ricky Charlesworth finds out why.To most petanque novices, the sport can look like a slight variation on the traditional game of bowls.

    But it requires much more than simply chucking a bowl and trying to get in close proximity to the jack, according to secretary of Heckmondwike Petanque Club, Clive Westley.
